NTSA Director Njeri Waithaka quits

National Transport and safety Authority (NTSA) has been on the lime light following the number plate saga, now the authority’s Director Njeri Waithaka has called it quit.

Until her resignation, Ms. Waithaka worked as the Director of Road Safety at NTSA, a position she has held from 2016.

A report by Business Daily said that Njeri Waithaka who handed in her resignation a few days ago cited personal reasons for her resignation.

Confirming her resignation, NTSA Director General Francis Meja said she had handed in her resignations but could not divulge further into the details.

“I’m aware of Waithaka’s case. She handed in her resignation letter but as to when exactly she is expected to leave is private information I may not disclose at the moment,” said Francis Meja who spoke to Business Daily.

Njeri Waithaka’s resignation comes a few days after Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) raided the National Transport and Safety Authority headquarters in Nairobi’s Upper Hill.

The raid led to the arrest of 19 NTSA officials who were suspected to be part of a number plate cloning syndicate after police found a vehicle in Kitengela which had similar number plates with a car used by terrorists who attacked the DusitD2 business complex.

The Toyota Ractis which had registration number KCN 340E was discovered in an apartment on the Kitengela – Balozi road and later towed to the police station.
