Former ‘Redykyulass’ comedian lands lucrative Ambassadorial job

Walter Mong’are alias ‘Nyambane’ is a renowned name in the Kenyan comedy industry.

The Kenya Film Commission Board CEO, Ezekiel Mutua announced the appointment of Mong’are as the drama ambassador for the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival.

The Commission sponsors the annual drama and film festival for artistic talents for schools all over Kenya.

As Ambassador for the Drama Festival, Mong’are will be expected to uphold the standards set by the KFCB for the performed arts.

The Redykyulass comedian currently works for the Office of the President as the Deputy Director in the Communication Department under youth programs.

During a tour to Kisii, president Uhuru Kenyatta had announced Mongare left the entertainment industry and joined him.

Prior to the announcement, Nyambane worked with the Kisii County Government under Governor James Ongwae before joining the Nairobi County Government.

Mong’are emerged in the limelight in early 2000 as part of a comedy group known as Red Kona that specialized in mimicking former presidents Daniel Arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki.

The show was comprised of John ‘KJ’ Kiarie (current Dagoretti South MP) and Tony Njuguna.
