A section of Kenyans on Thursday did not believe their ears when they heard Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris pronounce that the controversial musician Akothee is an inspiration to many.
In an interview with KTN News, Passaris told the Kenya Film Commission Board boss Ezekiel Mutua that Akothee deserved an apology as she is an inspiration to many.
“You owe Akothee an apology because you insulted her and called her demonic,’ she stated.
“She didn’t do it in a school compound or perform for underage children,” she added.
Mutua had strongly condemned Akothee’s stage performance during the Abebo Music Festival at Papa Remo Beach Party in Watamu.
“Akothee is talented but the filthy and stupid stunts she has to pull to remain relevant should concern all of us,” he cited.
“People like Akothee cannot be the role models for our daughters. Music doesn’t have to be dirty to sell. How I wish artists like Akothee would know how much influence they have on the youth,” he continued.
On her Instagram page, the entertainer commented on the morning debate advising men to focus more on being responsible fathers.
“My woman Passaris, women need freedom, period! Men will not tell us what to do, yet they don’t tell us how to live after we’re dumped,” part of her caption read.
The musician has been on the receiving end from angry Kenyans after her performance photos from the Abebo Music Festival surfaced online.
But Passaris is among the few who are in support of the controversial entertainer.
