The deceased baby’s grandfather, Mochumbe Maronya, positively identified the casket saying it was the one used to bury the girl who died from a mysterious disease.

“This is the coffin we used to bury her. Her death was surrounded with controversy and it’s quite discouraging to recover the coffin without the body,” said Maronya. “Today we noticed something unusual on the grave and seems they (witches) took the body. This is quite embarrassing habit by someone who doesn’t want to change.”

Eye witnesses said they also recovered a book with a list of names of people who are yet to die. Confirming the incident, Enchoro location chief James Orina, said they had positively identified the coffin but they were yet to know where the body was.

“The family has identified the coffin so we can’t deny. Why they exhumed the body is a question to be answered by those who practice witchcraft,” he said. Surprisingly, the incident happened a few kilometres away from Nyakeore church in which a miraculous photograph is reported to have been printed on the wall showing witches surrounding a man’s body.
