Why Kenya’s ‘Model’ Polygamist Jackson Kibor is in Court Crying Again

Eldoret controversial farmer cum politician and a renowned polygamist Jackson Kibor, 85, has sued a businessman for defrauding him wheat valued at Sh2.7 million.

Kibor on Monday testified before court in a case where a man is charged with defrauding him wheat worth Sh2.7 million.

Lawrence Kosgei, who appeared before Eldoret chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, was charged for conning Kibor on August 17 last year.

The controversial farmer, who has hit headlines in the past because of various reasons, claimed that he had agreed to give the man 872 bags of wheat at Sh3,100 each but he failed to honour the agreement they had reached after he picked the same from his farm.

“He came to my house and we went directly to the store, where he picked samples of the wheat and promised to come back the next day,” said Kibor.

He testified that the accused loaded the wheat on two trucks.However, Kosgei claimed he wired the money to Kibor’s eldest son through Trans National Bank.

“My son works in Uganda as a Timber trader and he was not around as we were negotiating with Kosgei,” he said.

The case will be heard on April 16.

The veteran Uasin Gishu Politician was last year granted a divorce from his third wife of 43 years Naomi Jeptoo Kibor after he accused her of deserting their matrimonial home, cruelty and arrogance.

Eldoret Principal Magistrate Naomi Wairimu granted Kibor divorce following a case he filed in 2017 after divorcing his second wife of 51 years on almost the same ground.

Mr Kibor, who had four wives, married Jeptoo in 1975 under the Nandi customary law.

The first wife passed on and the old man now lives with his fourth wife.

“I am happy today the court has granted me another divorce from my wife who has been extremely hostile and intolerant, causing me serious psychological suffering,” Mr Kibor said after the ruling.

“I can now confidently say I will live for more years after divorcing this big-headed woman.”
