Journey man! Ex-Manchester United star joins another club





Orlando City have completed the signing of former Manchester United and Portugal attacker Nani from Sporting Lisbon on a free transfer.

The former Manchester United winger joins Orlando City as a designated player having signed a three-year contract. Orlando City SC EVP of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi told the club’s official website: ‘This is an exciting day for our organization. Nani brings tremendous experience to our roster. He’s a dynamic winger with quality abilities to move and cross the ball, impact games and lead the offensive play.’

Nani scored nine goals and provided seven assists across 28 appearances during his third spell at Sporting having rejoined the club last summer.

After commencing his career at Sporting, Nani made the switch to United in 2007 and won an array of trophies including the Champions League and four Premier League titles. Nani rejoined Sporting on loan in 2014 and then made the switch to Fenerbahce permanently the following year. He has also had spells with Valencia and Lazio. Capped by Portugal on over 100 occasions, Nani helped his country to win Euro 2016. Orlando City get their new MLS season underway on March 3 when they host New York City FC.
