EAC,German In New Commitment Agreement.

The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany committed a grant of over USD 35 million (EUR 31.5 million) to the East African Community (EAC) to boost the region’s health,economic development and education sector.
The EAC Secretary General, Amb. Libérat Mfumukeko, and the German Ambassador to the EAC, Dr. Detlef Wächter, jointly signed the  Agreements in Arusha today

The new deal will ease commitment for joint financial corporations and is set to deal with pandemics and communicable diseases through
 joint financial cooperation programme under the “Regional Network of Reference Laboratories for Communicable Diseases’

While presiding over the signing of the agreement, Amb.Libera Mfukuneko East Africa’s Community Secretary General praised the German government for being at the helm of the regional block’s development partnerships for over 20 years.

German development cooperation has supported the EAC to the tune of USD 350M including  the new commitments signed today. the new commitment signed today will see dedications to the EAC scholarship program, strengthening of a regional quality infrastructure and support to the EAC integration process.
