Simple ‘joke’ sparks a fierce fight among Jubilee leaders

Jubilee leaders got themselves fighting when a controversial Rift Valley Lawmaker expressed hi dissatisfaction with DP Ruto’s presidency in 2022.

The lawmaker is said to have opened a can of worms with his statements, sparking arguments and counter-arguments that led to bitter exchanges.

The legislator vowed that he is ready to lose his seat in the coming elections, as he fights to ensure Dr Ruto goes home.

His proclamation did not please his two colleagues who slammed him for taking his hate against the influential politician too far.

Quick rejoinder

The irate legislators went ahead to threaten the MP, saying they would see to it that the member of parliament loses his seat as a result of his “reckless” statement.

“We will mobilize our colleagues and ensure you also lose your seat. We rather be voted out but make sure Ruto ascends to office,” one of the visibly agitated MPs said.

Threatened for supporting DP

On Thursday, two legislators said they had been threatened for supporting DP Ruto.

Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru and her Kimilili colleague, Didmus Barasa, said they had reported the threats to Parliament’s Director of Criminal Investigations and OCS.

The two MPs linked the threats to the 2022 succession politics.

“The motive is because of my political stand. Those threatening me should know that I don’t fear dying as everyone will die one day,” said Mr Barasa.
