“One Must Go!” Why Ozil’s Feud With Emery is Like The Mourinho-Pogba Divorce!

Couple’s fight. And for most therapists, they will agree that fighting is a great way to release stress and improve communication.

But in the world of football, bromances sizzle down just as quickly as they sparked. As the French would say, c’est la vie, mon cherie! (Such is life, my love!)

We’ve witnessed it with some of the most pragmatic manager-player duos:

Pep Guardiola and Yaya Toure.

Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba.

And now, Unai Emery and Mesut Ozil.

Since the arrival of Emery at the Emirates, it’s been trouble brewing for the complacent Mesut Ozil.

Despite him showing shades of his brilliance that catapulted him to stardom while at Real Madrid, Mesut is yet to break the facade of being a luxury player.

High wages, poor backtracking, and a somewhat laissez-faire attitude. These are the traits that have encompassed Mesut’s name this season.

It was only a matter of time before he made it to Emery’s little notebook of naughties, and perhaps, potential transfer listed players.

The only problem is the money…

For starters, Ozil is currently Arsenal’s most expensive player, raking in a jaw-dropping £300,000 every month!

He still has a few years left on his contract, and if he leaves, it will no doubt be Arsenal’s worst business move.

Secondly, he has had a string of poor performances, which have been detrimental to his value on the transfer market.

So you can see the kind of quagmire the board is in when it comes to Ozil.

If that’s not enough, Ozil has come under fire for liking a video critiquing Emery’s decision to leave out Ozil against their 1-0 loss to Bate Borisov.

There relationship is hanging by a thread now.

If you ask me, shades of the Mourinho-Pogba saga are in the making.

Which means only one thing. Either Emery will have to leave or send Ozil packing.

The classic tale of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.
