Man City CEO ‘personally scouts Juventus striker

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is interested in Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, according to reports in Italy.

Corriere dello Sport, via SportsWitness, say Guardiola is an admirer of the Argentine striker, and even sent City CEO Ferran Soriano to scout him last month.

The report claims Sorriano saw Juventus play Lazio in January on the instruction of Guardiola. Dybala played the full 90 minutes as Juventus won 2-1.

However, the report also specifies that even if City’s interest was genuine, any deal must be ‘completely constructed’, and Dybala would cost €100-120m to release him from his contract that runs until 2022.

25-year-old Dybala has seven goals and six assists for Juventus this season, and if City really are interested in a new striker, it could indicate their plans for life after Sergio Aguero.

Meanwhile, City captain Vincent Kompany is close to signing a one-year contract on reduced wages, according to reports.

The Daily Mail write that confidence is growing for a successful conclusion to talks over a new deal for the Belgian.

Kompany, 32, has been hampered by injuries this season, but City are said to be keen to extend his stay at the Etihad into a 12th year.

The defender is expected to agree a wage cut as part of the deal, the report says.
