Former Ruaraka OCS Nahashon Mutua has been sentenced to death for killing a suspect in police cells.
The Court arrived to this decision after Prosecution convinced court that Mutua hit the suspect severally with a rod & forcefully immersed his head in a drum of water for 30 mins.
In her judgement, Justice Jessie Lessit read that Mutua locked up Martin Koome in the cell, even though he had sustained serious injuries.
Koome 36, died on December 20, 2013 while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
Prosecution lined up 18 witnesses in the murder trial. The former OCS has 14 days to appeal the sentence. The sentence was handed down on Thursday morning .
