Kenyatta Family not Acquiring Fresha Milk

Fresha milk processor has refuted claims of being acquired by the Kenyatta owned Brookside Dairy Ltd.

Though the board chair, Charles Mukora, the milk processing firm has termed as rumours, information circulating on social media about the acquisition.

Gitunguri Dairy Farmers Cooperatives Society is the producer of Fresha milk and has in the past been awarded as a successful brand in the market and its quality consistency.

The firm is a brainchild of dairy farmers from Githunguri, Kiambu County and who built the company from scratch.

Githunguri Dairy is a major economic player in the country and a critical component in major of urban households.

The firm is an employer of over 1000 people and ranks among the top four milk firms in Kenya. Brookside on the other hand has been able to remain competitive mainly by acquisition of smaller firms.

Currently Githunguri cooperative has over 23,000 members who provide milk daily and are mainly zero grazers owing to massive subdivision of land. According to its records, it makes an annual turnover of about Sh6billion with a daily processing capacity of 230,000 litres of milk.
