Cases of extrajudicial killings have lately been on the rise and even the intervention of the government to try prevent them have not done much to stop them.

So who is to be blamed? Is it the police? Or should we still blame the government for apparently not doing enough?

As we still ponder on who or who not to blame, a family in Kisauni is drowned in mourning. This is after loosing one of their own to police bullets.

Shee Hassan, the 25-year-old man who was gunned down by police last week in Kisauni.

It has however been revealed that he was a wanted man.

Hassan was facing a charge of possessing a firearm without a license.

He was shot in the chest and head at Barsheba area on Thursday last week.

Five bullet holes were visible in his body that was lying at Coast Level Five Hospital morgue minutes after he was eliminated.

His head was disfigured by the impact of bullets.

According to his close associates, Hassan repeatedly said he would one day be killed by the police.

Human rights organisation Muhuri condemned the killing but said it does not dispute the deceased’s past criminal life.

“What we are against is reckless killing. Shee was unarmed when he was brutally gunned down. Police should have arrested him,” rapid response officer Francis Auma said.

The family did not conduct an autopsy.
