Mystery surrounds the murder of Mary Wambui Kamangara, the woman whose body was found dumped in a dam in Juja, Kiambu County.

Wambui’s husband, Joseph Kori Karue, and his mpango wa kando, identified as Judy Wangui Mungai, are being held by police over the murder, that is suspected to have been perpetrated at Wangui’s Four Ways Junction apartment along Kiambu Road.

Post-mortem findings indicated Wambui was bludgeoned with a blunt object on the head and suffocated thereafter, and it was suspected Kori had hit Wambui with the butt of his gun causing her fatal injuries after a fight ensued between her and his mistress Wangui.

However on Wednesday, February 6, the detectives said they had found out Kori was not anywhere near the murder scene.

The investigators who spoke on anonymity stated the man’s car was not captured in the CCTV footage at Wangui’s apartment.

“According to phone records reviewed and his car tracking system Kori was in Ngong on Saturday, January 26, when Wambui was killed. He was in Ngong until 9pm and drove back to Roysambu but was never at Four Ways Junction,” the investigator said.

The police officer had accompanied Kori to the scene of crime on Friday, February 1. The suspect told investigators he was in Ngong on the day his wife was killed, according to a detective following up the matter.

CCTV footage from Wangui’s Fourways Junction home showed she entered her residence at about 6:24pm in Wambui’s white Mercedes Benz. The car is reported to have left at 9:57pm with one person who detectives said was Wangui who returned at the residence at 11pm in a different car.

Earlier investigations indicated Wangui had allegedly bribed her lover with KSh 2 million to remain silent on the matter.
