Ommy Dimpoz is Back with an Emotional Testimony

After several weeks of specialized treatment, popular Tanzania musician Ommy Dimpoz is back with a bang. He released a new song to give thanks for surviving a near death experience. The Bongo musician had a rough 2018 health-wise.

He was first admitted to a South African hospital after alleged food poisoning that almost claimed his life. This entailed a 12-hour operation that left him in a coma. He is said to have taken the food during Alikiba’s wedding in Mombasa.

After weeks of treatment, he started recovering but his health deteriorated once again. This led to him taken to a Germany hospital in December for specialized treatment. It is widely reported that the treatment in Germany was mainly to fix his throat that had been damaged by the poison.

He has kick started his year with a rather emotional song that is aimed at giving thanks for the recovery. He indicated that he wrote the song to mostly thank God along with his family, friends and fans. He also says he is grateful to Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho who offered his personal doctors to help.

“Governor Joho noticed that I was having problems swallowing food during Alikiba’s wedding in Mombasa. I could barely swallow anything. He offered to take me to his personal doctors for checkup,” the musician disclosed.

In a clip with Mzazi Willy M Tuva and comedian DJ Shiti, he assures his fans that he is alive and well. “Wanaoniambia ningekufa, ningefika huko mbinguni ningeambia nini watu?” he asked.

“After a year of hardship and going through 3 surgeries, Ommy Dimpoz has returned to the music scene with ‘Ni Wewe” Rockstar Africa presents Ommy Dimpoz Ni Wewe, a song to thank his fans, family and friends but most of all “Our almighty Lord” who has protected him throughout his sickness to his well being,” read his statement on Youtube.
