Arsenal fans were a bit angered by the loss to Manchester City in their last English Premier League match, the result meant that the Gunners are now in sixth position on the table and behind Manchester United. To be fair, any Arsenal fan who closely follows the team knew that anything other than a loss to the Champions would have had been a shock result. Arsenal imply are not good enough to go toe to toe with the best teams in England or Europe. However, I still think Arsenal will be playing in the champions League next season, here’s why..
Easy fixture list
A quick glance at the remaining matches Arsenal has to play till the end of the season will leave fans excite and encouraged. Unai Emery’s team only have to play two big six sides in Manchester United at home and London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley. The Gunners have shown that they can deal with the lesser team quite easily even when they are not playing well as shown in the 22 unbeaten run earlier on in the season. If Arsenal can avoid dropping points against the likes of Huddersfield and Brighton then hold their own against Manchester United and Spurs, there’s no reason why a top four spot wont be achieved.
Injury comebacks
Granit Xhaka and Sokratis are players who re very key to the way Unai Emery wants his team to play. Both are easily the best in their positions at the club and to have them back into contention during the run-in will only do the team a world of good. Their absence has greatly affected the team’s progress and that was no more visible than in the 3-1 loss to Manchester City where the Gunners lacked cohesion and organisation in defence and midfield. Every manager needs to work with his best players to achieve the best results, Unai emery has long being denied of that luxury but that is abut to end in the next few weeks!
Unai Emery and the Europa League
Ask any Arsenal fan and he will tell you that the team’s best route to the Champions League is via the Europa League. No wonder the management hired a manager is a specialist when it comes to winning that competition having won it three years in a ow with Sevilla. Bar Chelsea and Napoli, I see no other team giving Arsenal a whole deal of trouble in the competition hence a clear route to the final. Unai Emery knows that he needs to deliver champions League football to Arsenal football club, the Europa League is his best chance and it is also what he knows best!
