Four elderly women from Igembe South Constituency, Meru County, have been accused of enticing underage boys to perform sexual acts with them, in what is commonly known as being a sugar mummy.
Residents claim that the women lure boys as young as 15 years to their houses and spend nights with them.
Speaking to the press, one of the residents alleged that her grandson dropped out of school to harvest miraa and share his earnings with one of the four women.
“The money he got from the miraa sale he would take it to the sugar mummy for sexual favors. This behaviour is what made us call for action to be taken to curb the rot that was taking place in the society,” she said.
According to her, the women mislead the boys into thinking that they are full grown men who can have sex after being circumcised.
In a twist of events, the four women were on Wednesday summoned by the traditional women council that is similar to Njuri Ncheke for men.
They were forced to undergo a traditional ‘cleansing’ ritual that involved grinding 25 litres of cereals and cooking two sufurias (cooking pots) of porridge for the gathering.
They were then warned to stop having sex with the boys and desist from luring them to their houses.
One of the sugar mummies, however, failed to turn up and was fined Ksh.10,000.
