Opposition leader Raila Odinga has been on the end of better treatment since his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta early last year, including a bigger and better security team.
The former Prime Minister is more fortified courtesy of the 12 armed bodyguards attached to him at any given time.
The ODM leader also has the previlage of enjoying 4 more armed officers at his listed homes, most known ones being his Karen home in Nairobi and his rural home at Opoda Farm in Bondo, Siaya County.
The officers are heavily trained by the elite General Service Unit (GSU).
According to Lawyer Paul Mwangi who is a close ally of the Orange Party chief, Raila is entitled to the same and is not being done any favour.
“Mzee (Raila) is only getting what he is entitled to as a retired prime minister. I don’t think there are extra privileges given to him,” he told the Standard.
Raila is yet to come clear on the tightened security around him and his premises, at a time when he appears closer to Uhuru courtesy of their joint attendance at functions lately. The former Premier is currently in Tanzania where he has already meet with the Head of State John Magufuli.
