You already know that no vehicles will be allowed in the CBD on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting from 1st February. According to the government, this will be called car-free days.

Transport PS Paul Maringa on Monday said there will be dedicated parking in Uhuru Park and Railways as no car will be allowed within the CBD during these two days.

What the government has failed tell you is that it is also targeting to make millions from these two days. Yaani, utakua unatembea kuenda job but unalipa gava.

During these two days, hawkers will be allowed to sale their counterfeit products along Nairobi streets. This will generate more than sh. 40 million in revenue for the government.

Over 5,000 will be erected in places for these hawkers to sale their merchandise. “The pilot stage is starting off with Moi Avenue, Harambee Avenue, Taifa Road, City hall and Mama Ngina Street,” Maringa said.

He said the exercise will be fully done in Kenyatta Avenue, University way, Moi Avenue and Haile Selassie, before going to Westlands.

The PS has also not told us that pickpockets will have a field day in these two days. There is one Kenyan who will loss his phone on Wednesday, buy another on Thursday then loss it on Saturday.

But that is non of my business. Anyway, I am suggesting to the government that these pickpockets should also be taxed.
