Mistaken identity!Police release conflicting details about Al Shaabab bride

Violet Kemunto populary known as Al shabaab bride has been a talk of town following the deadly terror attack that left 2 people dead.

There have been reports that Violet Kemunto the wife of Ali Gichunge, who the police believe masterminded the attack on Dusit Complex, was finally arrested.

Dozens of police raided a couple’s house at Mavindi market in Makueni County at dawn on suspicion of terrorism. They were later taken to the county headquarters.

However, after hours of questioning, County Police Commander Joseph Napeiyan told journalists that the two were traders.

According to reports, the misidentified couple had rented the self-contained house on January 16, a day after the attack.

Speaking to The Nation, a boda-boda operator within the area claimed that the couple remained indoors most of the time, therefore, raising suspicion.

The landlord who is also a head teacher of a local school stated that the arrest of his tenants caught him by surprise.

“I did background checks before allowing them to rent the house and was satisfied they were clean. They were referred to me by a taxi driver, “ Stephen Ngwili told the publication.

“She can run, but she won’t hide,” Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti proclaimed to the press.

So far eight people believed to have communicated with the suspects before the attack have been arrested.

On Thursday, the courts detained Zipporah Wambui Karanja, an insurance agent, who sold insurance for the vehicle used by one of the attackers.
