ODM members express mixed reactions following Aisha Jumwa’s expulsion

The expulsion of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has receieved mixed reactions from different legislators in her area.

Three Members of the County assembly Nixon Muramba (Kakuyuni), Peter Ziro (Garashi) and Daniel Chai Chiriba alias Bonyeza of Jilore ward  all from the ODM party have apparentlky backed the desicion to have the malindi legislator expelled from the party additionally opting for a by election to what they term as to teach Ms Jumwa a lesson.

The three also added saying that the fact that she has decided to back  Deputy President William Ruto she deserves the punishment.

In addition they said, “More than  40 ODM MCAs do not support Jumwa. She only has the support of three MCAs who are also planning their exit strategy.”

However not everyone is against Ms Jumwa as those allied to her have , maintained she is innocent and asked the ODM Governing Council to forgive her when the time comes.

According to Malindi branch ODM Chairman Hosea Hagai Chome,  “Jumwa does not deserve such a severe punishment because she worked hard for the party.”

He further added saying, It’s not the MP alone who went for the handshake, I would urge the national Governing Council to reject the recommendations, as Malindi residents we feel she is being victimized for nothing.’’

The report wants Jumwa and Suleiman Dori (Msambweni) expelled from the party for failing to tow party line.

The party is expected to hold a meeting next month to make a final decision.

Jumwa declared she would support DP Ruto in his 2022 Presidential bid and has been going around with him since the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Party leader Odinga.
