Bandari stage dramatic comeback against Simba to book final berth in the SportPesa Supercup

Coastal based side Bandari FC have booked their slot into the final of the Sportpesa Super Cup 209 edition after staging a dramatic comeback to knock out Tanzania giants Simba 2-1.

Bandari started on the wrong foot when Simba went ahead in the first half after some confusion in the Bandari box saw Simba capitalize an send the ball into the back of the net. Bandari however came back guns blazing in the second half and were duly rewarded when William Wadri coolly collected a pass from Wycliffe Ochomo and send the ball past the Simba custodian.

Simba upped the tempo following that Bandari equalizer and former Gor Mahia forward Meddie Kagere almost gave the hosts the lead but for some fine Bandari goalkeeping. With 20 minutes remaining Bandari would complete the memorable comeback when Wilberforce Lugogo connected with a cross from the left to send an stoppable shot in and off the post.

Simba huffed and puffed for an equalizer but Bandari held on and will now face the winner of the other semi final pitting Mbao FC against William Muluhya’s Kariobangi Sharks at the same venue.

The final will be played on Sunday
