Three students are currently in custody in Nakuru after allegedly killing their Physics teacher on Thursday evening.

Peter Omari, who was also the boarding master at Hopewell Secondary school was found murdered after being hit on the head by a blunt object. According to details, he had engaged in a scuffle with one of the students after he confiscated his mobile phone.

Vitalis Kahende, founder and director of the school confirmed the murder, saying the students suspected to have had a hand in the killing were being held at Rhonda Police Station.

“This is a mixed day and boarding school. It was a shock. We called the local authorities because we already had a general idea; we mentioned a few suspects,” he said.

According to Ben Kirui, a neighbour to the slain tutor, the wife of the deceased rushed to his house to alert him that there were screams coming from the school prompting him to rush there only to find the body lifeless in one of the bathrooms in the school.

“It is with sadness and sorrow that we are now mourning Mr. Peter Omari, who was our patron, physics and computer teacher” he said.
