Kenyans are appealing to the government to help in raising funds and facilitating the funeral arrangement of the family of a soldier who died while in line of duty at the DusitD2 terror attack.

This comes after the family of the officer who was killed in the 14 Riverside attack said they will be holding a fundraiser for the funeral on Wednesday.

In an obituary in the local dailies, the family of the late Japhet Ndunguja Nuru said funeral arrangements are underway and an MPesa Paybill number has been set up under the account name ‘Japhet Funeral Fund’.

“Meetings for funeral arrangements will take place today 22/1/2019 at Kindergarten hall and Wednesday 23/1/2019 at A.C.K hall, All Saints Cathedral starting from 5:00pm,” the notice reads.

The 28-year-old , who was a General Service Unit (GSU) officer in Ruaraka, was shot to death by terrorists, all of whom were killed in the siege.

The officer was among 21 people who perished in the attack that saw joint security teams from the GSU, National Police Service, Recce Squad and Kenya Army swiftly respond.

Kenyans want the officer given a special send off with the family taken care off for his brave deeds which saw many rescued.

However , Interior CS Fred Matiang’i met with the officer’s family last Friday. He also met with other officers based in Ruaraka to thank them for their service during the Riverside attack.
