Manchester United defender wary of Spurs threat

Ahead of their seismic English Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United defender Phil Jones has acknowledged that the London club will be the first real test under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Since parting ways with Jose Mourinho after the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool, Manchester United have won all five games under club legend Solskjaer. All of the wins have come under opposition below United in the table and the clash against Spurs proves to be Solskjaer’s first real test since joining the club.

Jones noted that the clash against Spurs will pose a serious threat to their five-game winning streak, “Spurs is a good test. We are in good form and have some momentum going. We have steadied the ship a bit. We have not done anything yet, we have not achieved anything, but we need to keep it going. Possibly Spurs will be an indicator for us and how far we can go but it is a game we need to win.

“They are in good form and doing well and we need to have a good week, train well and prepare for a tough game. Hopefully the momentum can carry us on to win that match.”
