William Ruto, the self declared hustler has had a glittering political career over the years that has seen him rise to be the Country’s second in Command.

Ruto, just like any other politician or human being out there is dreaming big and as his ambitions set on being the Country’s head of state. The walk to Statehouse will however not be an easy one if the current happenings in the Political scene across the Country is anything to go by.

Back in 2017, during the formation of Jubilee, a William Ruto Presidency come 2022 looked all but certain. Fast forward in 2019, doubt is already being cast on whether he will even be a candidate come the upcoming general elections.

Ruto has had to deal with forces within and without Jubilee with the latest onslaught on his Presidential bid coming right from the house that he helped build, the Jubilee Party.

Former Jubilee vice chairman David Murathe is engineering a mass walkout of members opposed to Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid.

Murathe, who unexpectedly resigned as vice chairman on Sunday, said those opposed to Ruto will form a new coalition to stop the DP from succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We are ready to form a new coalition and I can tell you for sure it will crush Ruto and his group. I can tell him for free that he will be lucky to be an opposition leader,” said David Murathe.

On Sunday night, Murathe said that he was forming a stop-Ruto movement.

Ruto also has an uphill task of clearing his name after being time and again mentioned in various graft cases ranging from the maize scandal and the Weston Hotel land saga.

The Maize scandal in particular has even led to rebellion from MPs from the Rift Valley led by Joshua Kutuny and Alfred Keter with the duo spreading the anti-Ruto message across the Rift Valley.

A section of leaders and Kenyans have also questioned the source of Ruto’s ever growing wealth with the DP now synonymous with offering large sums of money in churches and various Social gatherings.

In particular, Amani National Congress Party leader Musalia Mudavadi and a section of ODM leaders have asked that Ruto be investigated and his source of wealth made public.

Will Ruto therefore be able to clear the air on this “Corruption Tag” that has been bestowed on him?

Will we see Ruto in the ballot come 2022? Well, only time will tell since Kenya’s Political scene can change with a snap of a finger.
