A total of 36,026 Form Ones have applied for transfers ahead of reporting day on Monday.

Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang said the transfers were made by school heads through the ministry’s National Education Management Information System (Nemis).

When a student arrives for admission, Mr Kipsang said, they will be required to present letters for verification on Nemis.

Schools will be required to use smartphones or computers to log into the system and go to the learners’ tab from where principals will process admission and transfer requests.

“The details of the students will appear indicating that the student is selected to join the school,” said Mr Kipsang.

He also directed principals to download and print their selection lists from Nemis in readiness for the exercise. The print out will be used as a backup in case of connectivity challenges.
