“Surviving R. Kelly,” which premiered Thursday on Lifetime as part of a three-night, six-hour event, has been making headlines for the disturbing portrait it paints of the controversial singer.
Members of R. Kelly’s inner circle, his alleged victims and their family members were also featured on the program, but it was reportedly hard for Detroit author and filmmaker Dream Hampton to find any other musicians who would discuss the allegations on camera.
John Legend took to twitter to reveal to his supporters that it was easy for him to appear in the program because he is against protecting a serial child rapist plus he believes in the women who survived to tell of R Kelly’s beastly character towards them.
To everyone telling me how courageous I am for appearing in the doc, it didn’t feel risky at all. I believe these women and don’t give a fuck about protecting a serial child rapist. Easy decision.

Immediately he received massive applaud love and respect for his bold decision with fans in awe celebrating his action.

“When it comes to celebrities, it was incredibly difficult to get people who had collaborated with Kelly to come forward,” Hampton told the Detroit Free Press “That makes John Legend even more of a hero for me.”
That’s why we love you! pic.twitter.com/3u6X4LBJnF

Hampton said she understood why many others didn’t come forward.
“It’s not because they support him, it’s because it’s so messy and muddy,” she said in an interview with Shadow and Act. “It’s that turning away that has allowed this to go on.”
Fans couldn’t help but express how they loathed musician R Kelly due to the damage he caused the female survivors who gathered a lot of courage in order to come out and expose him
R.Kelly is disgusting me…. @johnlegend I’m sure it took a lot for those survivors to actually come out and reveal what happened to them. My heart goes out to his Survivors he took their Soul.

As an educator who majored in psych, with an emphasis in child and family studies and thus read horrible case studies, heard them in my classes, thank you thank you thank you for speaking up not just for those women but thus for others too.
