Pundit Reveals Douglas Costa Concern Over Man Utd January Move

Douglas Costa won’t join Manchester United in January, says Steve Nicol. That’s according to pundit Steve Nicol, who believes the Juventus winger is not consistent enough to join United.

The latter are in desperate need of January reinforcements after a woeful first half of the campaign.

26 points taken from 17 games saw Jose Mourinho lose his job at Old Trafford, with a 3-1 defeat away at Liverpool proving the final nail in his coffin.

Several reports suggest Costa could be on the verge of moving to Manchester, but Nicol is not convinced.“I don’t think United need another guy they can’t rely on” Steve Nicol

“[I’m] not so sure about this,” he said.

“I think Man United right now need proven world-class ability, Douglas Costa possibly has world-class ability, he just doesn’t show it consistently.

“I don’t think United need another guy they can’t rely on. [Anthony] Martial, as good as he is, is in and out.

“So I don’t think this is gonna happen at all, I don’t see it.”

Another man being linked with a move to United is Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

Koulibaly, 27, is regarded by many as one of European football’s leading defenders.

Nicol, though, cannot see that deal happening either.

“I don’t think there’s any possibility of this happening in the next window at all,” he said.
