Manchester United Target Two Serie A Stars For January

Manchester United are reportedly targeting Juventus’ Douglas Costa and Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly for the January transfer window in a bid to help caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer squeeze into the top four.

The Norwegian was hired after Jose Mourinho was sacked in the wake of the defeat to Liverpool and kicked off his reign in style.

United beat Cardiff City 5-1 in his first game in charge but there’s still a need to address the weaknesses in the squad.

Solskjaer confirmed he’d be consulted for any signings coming into the club and perhaps he’s given the green light on Costa and Koulibaly.

It is surprising given that if a new manager is coming in during the summer then it would make more sense for the Red Devils to hold off on any newcomers.

Nonetheless, according to the Express, Douglas and Kalidou are the two main targets for the January transfer window despite their estimated combined worth is £144m at least.

It’s a huge chunk of money to spend given how the new manager may want to sign different players for the positions that need addressing.

A top centre-back signing hasn’t been a secret but United’s efforts are better off spent on ensuring the correct setup is completed for the next manager in charge.
