Pope Romanus Ongombe of the Legio Maria religious sect has appointed Rev. Dismas Agose as the Deputy Pope to replace the outgoing Rev. Lawrence Ochieng.

Bishop Gunga said the changes were occasioned by the desire to fight cases of mismanagement of funds and so as to retain the sect faithful.

He said much of the funds collected to support various projects have occasionally been swindled by a few top officials who “have been running the church as their own personal investments.”
