Police in Riruta area, Nairobi County, are holding a suspect identified as James Wanjiku for allegedly stabbing another man to death at Wanyee Close on Tuesday night.
Richard Odhiambo, 34 a father of three was killed at Bumps stage when he had gone to mediate between two warring factions.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased who operates a food kiosk in the area noticed people he knew fighting and decided to intervene before he was stabbed on the chest.
The assailant then reportedly locked himself in his house where he was arrested by police at around 4 a.m; the knife used to commit the crime was also recovered in the house.
Confirming the incident, Dagoretti OCPD George Seda said the victim was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby health facility.
The police boss added that investigations are currently underway, adding that the suspect will be arraigned in court to answer murder charges.
The deceased’s body was taken to city mortuary pending an autopsy.
