While freedom of expression in some country seems to be a law that is honoured and respected, some countries may not have that pass to express themselves since there are laws that simply gives them some kind of limit.
A Thai YouTuber risks facing jail term after criticizing a miss universe contestant dress which she says is ugly.
Police are even said to have started an investigation over the matter although the YouTuber deleted the critic post she had shared on social media and gave an apology.
According to DW reports, The youtuber faces accusations of royal defamation.
The dress is said to have been worn by a Thailand miss universe contestant but the gown was designed by princess Srivannavari Nariratana a daughter of Thailand king.
Thailand laws are said to be among the strictest worldwide and insulting the monarchy can face a jail sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
Some right advocates in the country however say that the law is misused to limit people from expressing themselves.
Giving this state of the country a comparison with Kenya, those days where people could not express themselves are over. Kenyans have a voice and even though it could go to the extremes of criticising the President or any official as long as it is holds up to the respect, Kenyans have since been able to weigh in over matters.
From my personal opinion this is so backward since giving an opinion especially just commenting on a dress sounds so petty to involve the police.
Here is the dress that became a hot topic.
