Chelsea keen to sign Bayern Munich’s finest

London side Chelsea has held talks with Mats Hummels’ agent over a potential move to England in the January transfer window.

The Germany international has fallen down the pecking order at Munich as he is currently considered the third choice to behind Jerome Boateng and Niklas Sule.

According to Bild, the 30-year-old is unhappy at the club and is considering an exit. According to reports, his agent Marc Kosicke travelled to London and held talks with both Chelsea and Tottenham last week. Hummels has just over two years remaining on his current deal.

However, club’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insisted the defender will stay with the club until the end of the season. “We had a conversation with Mats a few days ago and he will play for Bayern Munich in the second half of the season.”

Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic also admitted that they had spoken to Hummels about his current situation. “We talked to Mats, it was a good conversation,” he said.

“Mats feels very well in Munich, and if a player does not always play, it is clear that there are discussions. Mats wanted to talk to us. We explained our point of view to him and he explained his point of view. I think that we came to a common denominator,” he added.
