Sad!Teen found dead near County Commissioner’s home

Police have launched investigations after body of a form three student was found hanging from a mango tree near Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner’s official residence.

The student, identified as Linus Gitonga, 18, had reportedly shown signs of committing suicide   but had received advice from church members against the move.

His body was spotted dangling from the tree, located roughly 200 meters from the commissioner’s residence, by a street urchin who alerted passers-by who called the police.

According to witnesses, Gitonga was reportedly stressed by his parent’s constant wrangles that often caused them to fight even in public.

“He could have been stressed by his psrents who have always had disagreements to extent of fighting in public,” stated one witness.

Gitonga, a student at Kiamuriuki Secondary School, had allegedly bought a rope to commit suicide earlier before he was advised otherwise.

Chuka Igambang’ombe OCPD Benson Makumbi revealed that police had launched investigations into the situation.

“We are investigating the matter to establish what transpired before the student reportedly took his (on) life,” stated Mugambi.

The student’s education was reportedly being sponsored by Chuka town’s Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA).

The deceased’s body was taken to Chuka County Referral Hospital mortuary.
