Man Utd Set For SHOCK Lucas Hernandez Transfer Talks Following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Return

Manchester United have appointed Solskjaer as their interim manager as they play a waiting game in the hope of luring Mauricio Pochettino to Old Trafford in the summer.

The Red Devils chose to part ways with Jose Mourinho on Tuesday following their horrendous start to the Premier League season.

And Spanish outlet Ok Diario say Manchester United are now set to accelerate their plans to sign a defender in January.

Mourinho was hellbent on securing a move for a new centre-back in the summer.

But the United board refused to bite.

Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire stayed at Tottenham and Leicester.

And it was a similar story for Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin.

Ok Diario say, however, that United are primed to enter talks with Atletico ace Hernandez over a transfer.

Earlier this week it was claimed he would join Bayern Munich for £77million after they met his release clause.

But Atletico shut that down, saying in a statement: “Following the story published by the Marca newspaper on an alleged deal between Bayern Munich and our player Lucas Hernandez, according to which the German club is to trigger the Frenchman’s buyout clause in the January window, Atlético de Madrid wishes to state that, in conversation with our club, Lucas Hernandez has denied any deal with Bayern Munich and also any intention to exit our club.

“Additionally, the excellent relationship between Atlético de Madrid and the German club has led Bayern Munich to deny said operation during a conversation between officials of both clubs.”

Yet United could now be set to pounce.

It is claimed Hernandez rejected Mourinho in the summer but has agreed to sit down with the Red Devils in the New Year.

But whether he joins remains to be seen. United have also been linked with a move for Douglas Costa.

But Juventus may prove stubborn negotiators given the Brazilian’s importance.
