If given a chance to rank the best institution of higher learning in Kenya, which one will you choose to be a center of academic excellence?
I know i will get a number of responses depending on what you think ranks one University on top of the others. But the top University will Shock that is with no doubt.
But the world council of University ranks Universities depending on their academic excellence, the quality of training the offer and the qualifications levels of their graduates.
URAP’s ranking system is based on academic quality and focuses on number of publications, articles, citation, total documents, article impact total, citation impact total and international collaboration.
University of Nairobi and Moi University were ranked first and second in Kenya respectively.
According to the report released by University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), UoN is at position two in East Africa and 1,264 in the world followed closely by Moi at position four in East Africa and 2,006 in the world.?
The ranking tool, which places Harvard University as the best in the world, ranked Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and Kenyatta University third and fourth in Kenya respectively.
Though in East Africa the country is shining we continue to struggle to establish our dominance in the International sphere.
This is mainly but lack of that intensive access to environment that is equipped with the necessary skills relevant to raising holistic professionals.
But the country is picking strategies relevant that are aimed at raising the bar such as improving the access to education by sub- subsidizing on the fees requirements.
Also the country is investing in skills orientated education system that is enshrined in the new curriculum. The establishment of polytechnics have also started a bold voice as it helps the country in raising professionals.
