The Kenyans for Kenyans spirit is apparently not dead as we have once again proved that ‘we are one’ and are able to contribute towards a worthy cause and help those in need. Kenyans who attended the Churchill Show aired on NTV raised a shocking Ksh. 1 million in under an hour for girl in Mathare who are unable to live a decent life because of the challenges they face every other day.
The girls, who are part of a dance and mentorship initiative by an FBI dance crew member Moesha Kay, had in a video narrated how they are unable to go to school, attend dance practice or afford sanitary towels.
Moesha Kay narrated to the Churchill audience how she has been using her income from FBI dance gigs to support the girls.
Two dance groups performed at the show hosted at Kenyatta International Conference Centre. KICC Chief Executive Nana Gecaga started the wave of donation by pledging Ksh. 100, 000.
Her pledge was followed by socialite Huddah who pledged Ksh. 200, 000 and K24 news anchor, Betty Kyallo who pledged Ksh. 100, 000 and a hair and beauty make over for the girls at her Flair by Betty salon.
Churchill took to Instagram to thank the three and other corporates who had made the pledges in support of the girls.
