Sometimes i tend to agree with the holy scriptures that says those who have shall be added . To some extent this is true.
This is true because for instance in Kenya the rich continue getting richer while the poor even continue living in devastating life conditions.
But why? What life lessons do they have that others lack?
President Uhuru Kenyatta has bagged a special award for his exemplary hosting of the world’s first ever Sustainable Blue Economy Conference.
The award was presented to him, on Tuesday evening, by the African Union (AU) Commission for the event that brought together more than 18,000 delegates with participants drawn from more than 170 countries.
The conference was aimed at bringing together the participants so that they could learn to build a blue economy that harnesses the potential of water bodies such as oceans, to benefit all people as well as leverage the latest scientific breakthroughs to build prosperity while conserving water bodies.
During his opening speech at the ceremony, President Kenyatta stated that the country will spearhead policies aimed at realizing the conference’s goals.
“I am convinced that for the sake of the present and future generations, and for the continued viability of our ecosystems, we have to envision a different future and, therefore, a different model for the blue economy.
“I pledge to envision that future and do my part to promote it,” stated the president.
AU Commission Chairman Moussa Faki praised the president for his leading role in driving Africa’s Blue Economy agenda.
“Africa has not benefited from this depleting resource. The continent needs to come together to exploit the remaining resources for the benefit of the continent and the future of mankind,” remarked Uhuru as he received the award.

The conference was attended by several other heads of states including Yoweri Museveni from Uganda, Danny Faure of Seychelles and Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed from Somalia among others.
Others included Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama and Mozambique’s Filipe Nyusi.
The event, slated to close today, November 28, was co-hosted by Canada as well as Japan.
