Top criminal lawyer Cliff Ombeta, on Tuesday surprised the nation when he said that he will not be representing quack doctor Mugo wa wairimu.

Doctor Mugo, was recently exposed for operating an illegal clinic in Kayole, raping women among other offenses that shouldn’t be happening in the civilized world.

According to Ombeta, he is a father to a teenage daughter and wouldn’t want her to meet someone like Mugo. So the lawyer has suddenly become a human being and is doing his work to the best of society.

But let’s not forget that the same man is representing Migori governor Okoth Obado, who is facing among other charges; the murder of his pregnant girlfriend Sharon Otieno and their unborn son.

So Sharon was not a young girl? Did she not deserve to live? Sharon was gang-raped before being stabbed eight times and her naked body dumped in Kodera forest.

How were killers different from what Mugo has been doing to his patients? Mugo is accused of sedating and raping patients, aiding in illegal abortions. Sharon’s murderers did all that in one night.

So if both Obado and Mugo are suspects, in cases where women are involved, why does Ombeta think he should be praised for taking on one case and saying no to the other?

Ombeta, is not clean. Looking at some of his clients you will concur with me on this. He represented the notorious Akasha brothers who killed innocent Kenyans with drugs at the Kenyan coast. At one time, he cried in court arguing that the brothers were helping poor Kenyans.

In October, the brothers pleaded guilty to six counts of drug trafficking in a New York Court. The two pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges, corruption to defeat extradition and conspiracy to use guns to facilitate their drug trafficking business. This were the same people he vehemently defended.
It seems Ombeta only defends guilty people.
