Have you ever imagined that a player could wish to stay at a club for the rest of his career? Then this is just a wish that has been fulfilled by an Everton player who has been at the club for 8 years now.
Despite reported interest in the past, one Everton man has revealed he has never been tempted to quit Goodison Park for any new pastures.
Seamus Coleman has been with the Toffees since 2009 and has been a mainstay in the first-team when he has been available to feature for the club.
The Republic of Ireland international has received criticism recently for his performances, however, during the early days of his career, it is believed he attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
However, the 30-year-old has stated that he has never been tempted to leave and would in fact like to end his career with the club. Can this affect his career in any way?
While speaking to the times, he said: “There was interest from numerous clubs but I never looked for a way out.
“I’m telling the truth here. Whatever went on between clubs went on, but I’ve always been happy at Everton.”
Coleman has become an influential figure at Goodison Park during his near ten-year association with the club.
The Republic of Ireland international, who had missed the majority of last season with a broken leg, has looked rusty with his performances this year, although he still remains important to the team.
Although he would like to remain at Everton for the rest of his career, that will likely be out of his hands and could be even more difficult for him to achieve, should Silva decide to bring in a new full-back to the club at some point.
