Arsenal boss Unai Emery is seriously considering a swoop for Espanyol defender Mario Hermoso.
That’s according to reports in Spain claiming Arsenal could make an official approach during the January transfer window.
Hermoso, a product of the Real Madrid academy, joined Espanyol in July 2017 on a three-year deal and quickly established himself in the starting XI.
The centre-back has gone from strength to strength and just received his first call-up for the Spanish national team for fixtures against Bosnia and Croatia.
And Spanish newspaper Marca claim Arsenal are interested.
However, the same report suggests that Real Madrid will have the opportunity to trigger a £7million buy-back clause.
Should Arsenal meet Hermoso’s £35m release clause in January – Real Madrid will be entitled to half the fee
