So was there a clash in efforts to save Congestina between Sonko and NACADA team?
Chipukeezy has clarified on the happenings in Kisumu after Sonko’s rescue team airlifted Kenya’s legend boxer Congestina Achieng to Nairobi for treatment even after NACADA had promised to act on the issue seeing both teams travel to Kisumu on Friday morning.
This comes after the reactions from Kenyans saying that Mike Sonko only jumped into the plan that was earlier thought of by the NACADA Youth empowerment foundation Director (Chipukeezy).
Earlier this morning, Chipukeezy had announced that NACADA will commit to take the boxing legend Conjestina Achieng to the best rehab/ mental institution in Kenya.
A move that was triggered by the efforts of Kenyans and celebrities who campaigned and asked for able institutions to give her the help she needs.
Chipukeezy announced that they managed to reach out to her and will be picking her from her Kisumu home today, before being taken to the best mental institution there is in Kenya.
Sonko’s team however seemed to have arrived to the Siaya home of Congestina Achieng ahead of Chipukeezy.
This in the eyes of Kenyans came off as a competition between the Sonko team and NACADA team. Chipukeezy however cleared the air saying that the two were trying to be on the same page and it was not a stand off.
As NACADA, Chipukeezy said that they know what is best for the boxing legend he added that what they both wanted to do was for a good course and therefore best if they work together.
“Speaking as NACADA, we know the best places that we can take her, the best rehab that can take care of her..we just don’t want to take her for rehabilitation… then take her back home. We will still have the same conversation after a while .. really what we are trying to do is to be on the same page.” he said
The Sonko’s team managed to airlift Congestina and upon arrival in Nairobi, she has been taken to the hospital for check up.
