Uhuru has a 2022 plan, but a third term is not it

President Uhuru Kenyatta already declared that he is not interested in a third term but guess what? He might just have a say about his succession in 2022.

The President visited Nyeri county today where he commissioned the construction of the Terminal 1 at Nyaribo Airstrip after the county government last month launched the first maiden flight that allows travelers from Nyeri region to fly directly to Nairobi.

After meeting Mt Kenya leaders, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that he is not a fool for being quiet about succession politics. The President reiterated his sentiments about vying for another term saying that although he will not vie for presidency, he will have a voice in the 2022 politics.

“Delighted to meet with residents of Karatina. I am more concerned with developing our nation and not to engage in politics. My silence should not be taken for granted. Every leader needs to work and deliver results for all Kenyans,” said the president in a tweet.

“Don’t think I’m a fool by keeping silent on issues of politics; I will give my voice come 2022,” he said again in Kikuyu while addressing the residents of Nyeri county.

At the same time, President Kenyatta called out leaders who he said were not working for their people. He warned them telling them that each and every leader will be elected based on delivery.

He added that he also met with leaders from the region and warned them against putting their agenda of greed first and forgetting to prioritize the needs of Kenyans.

“If we focus on our purpose as leaders and pay more attention to the needs of our people, there is so much we can do for the people of Kenya. It is our responsibility to make this happen,” said the President.

Do you believe the President or any other politician who says they would not go for another term even if given the opportunity?
