Ugandan couples have been arrested by the  Kampala’s Flying Squad Unit for faking kidnap

An 18-year-old Ugandan woman faked  her own kidnap in a bid to help her lover expand his shoe business and pay her dowary.

Regina Nakiwu revealed to the Flying Squad Unit her boyfriend badly needed the money so as to grow his business and generate enough money to pay her dowry.

According to police reports, Nakiwu had connived with her boyfriend identified as William Ssenyonga to steal Shs2m by pretence that she had been kidnapped for ransom.

Ssenyonga bought the idea and made a call to the girlfriend’s father and threatened to kill her if the money wasn’t delivered  KSh 54,382.

“Ssenyonga told police he called Nakiwu on a Tuesday to come pay him a visit at his home in Kawaala, Kasubi,” police reported. The two called Ponsiano Mbaziira, Nakiwu’s father, demanding for ransom, prompting him to contact the police.

According to Ponsiano, he requested for more time to gather the money then reported the case to the authorities. “Mbaziira asked for time to get the money.

He reported a case with Flying Squad Unit, instead,” the police report stated. Flying Squad then tracked the call to William’s house and rushed to rescue the supposed victim.

The police were surprised to find the two lovebirds  at Ssenyonga’s home in Kawaala by themselves  having lunch.

Nakiwu told police she was trying to help her boyfriend expand his shoe business so that he could afford enough money to pay bride price.

The suspects are currently detained at CPS Police Station pending arraignment in court of law.

In Kenya a man poisoned  his in-laws who had visited to hold dowry discussion.

According to a number of family members who were in attendance of the Monday event in Gionseri area, Kisii County the man is said to have pealed crystals of rat & rat poison to the main meal before it was served to the visiting guests.

“Few minutes before we served the meals the man Isaac Onserio visited the kitchen where he tested almost every meal and we’re convinced that at this point it’s when he poisoned the meal,” said Rebecca Kemunto a relative who was in the event as well

Drama began when the in-laws started to decry of stomachache immediately they finished eating and that raised eyebrows as well as suspicion.

“They were all rushed Nyamache hospital later on to Kisii level six where they are currently being admitted and my husband has been arrested over the same as the main suspect,” said Mary Ayiecha a wife to the arrested man

Confirming the incident area Chief Obed Kibwage said the man was arrested as he tried to escape once his guests were taken to the hospital making him the chief suspect.

“The man is currently being held at Nyamache police station and he will be arraigned in court once police identify the reason to why he did that despite the fact they had disagreed over dowry payment’ said Kibwage
