Money Heist? Bank Robbery Gone Bad in Kisii

Two I&M Bank employees and Key Vault custodians arrested for stealing over 27 million shillings at the Kisii branch are set to appear in court on Monday.

The two, Tom Odhiambo Adinda and Daniel Ochieng Okweh allegedly mixed 100 and 1000 notes in each 1million bundle of notes.

This is not the first time bank employees have been linked to fraud from this region and the country at large

In August this year, a bank manager who worked at Diamond Trust Bank, Kisii branch, was arrested on similar charges.

He was indicted over the theft of Ksh.25million from a customer’s fixed account.

Three bank employees and a guard were charged with stealing Sh20 million from Family Bank Ruiru branch. The operations supervisor, Cyrus Mugo, tellers Nancy Njeri and Sally Mureithi and Robert Ndururi, the guard, denied the charges but were charged that on the night of July 14 and 15, at Family Bank’s Ruiru branch, they jointly broke in and stole Sh19, 204,563, 210 euros and $570.
