Joseph Irungu alias Jowie a murder suspect in the murder of Monica Kimani today appeared  in court alongside his Fiance TV girl Jackie Maribe and they both pleaded not guilty to the murder charges.

Before the Court Session stared Jowie shared a very touching and emotional moment with his mother.Take a  look:

Appearing before the High Court judge, the two pleaded not guilty saying that they understood the charges but denied having been involved in the murder. Jacque Maribe’s lawyer, Katwa Kigen expressed that his client has already been in custody for two weeks and thus wanted the mention of the bail application to be done immediately.

However, Judge Jessie Lessit ruled that the bail application for Miss Maribe & Mr. Irungu be heard on Wednesday, 17th October which means that the two will remain in remand longer, pending the hearing of their bail which the judge said will be set at a later date.

This means that the two will remain in custody, Maribe will be detained at the Lang’ata Women’s Prison while Jowie at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.

The businesswoman Ms Kimani was killed on the night of September 19, just hours after arriving in Nairobi from South Sudan.

A third suspect in the case, Mr Brian Kassaine, was freed by the court last week but ordered to be reporting regularly to the police.

This means that their appearance in Court on Wednesday will be for fixing a date in which their bail hearing will be made, and thus they will have to go back in remand to await the bail hearing date.

The two have since undergone mental assessment which ascertained that they are fit to stand trial.

CCTV footage also showed that he had used Maribe’s car to get to Lamuria Apartments where Monica Kimani was dumped in a bathtub with her throat slit.

The DNA results from the samples taken from him also matched 99.9%.
