Frank Nuttal,the former Gor Mahia coach has applied for the AFC leopards coaching position .
Frank Nuttal who is interested to take up the coaching role at Ingwe says that , AFC is an excellent challenge for him to prove his coaching skills in the Kenyan Premier League.
” It would be an excellent challenge and opportunity to re positon them at the forefront of African Football “, Nuttall said.
AFC leopards have had a poor campaign in the last Kenya Premier League matches. The team finished seventh in the just concluded season which Gor Mahia were crowned league winners.
AFC leopards are currently without a head coach after the Argentine Rodolfo Zapata parted with the club after poor he recorded a dismal performance.
AFC leopards who are 12 times KPL champions failed to play according to fans expectations producing unsatisfying performance and finished trophy less.
The team has now gone twenty years without the KPL trophy and the fans are on the verge of losing hope with the team.
AFC and Gor Mahia are the Kenya Premier league sides with most fans and support from their die hard fans.
Nuttal left Gor Mahia in 2016 after leading them back to back KPL titles including running an umbeat record in the 2015 Kenya Premier League campaign.
Frank Nuttal later joined Zamalek SC of Egypt as am assistant coach but was dismissed with less than three months on the job.
His African stint took him to Ghana where he coached Hearts of Oak for one season from 2017-2018.
The coach is now interested in coming back to Kenya and picking up a role which is the greatest rival of his former club Gor Mahia who are currently in good form.
The coach is keen to take up the role in the efforts to wake up the sleeping lions and bring AFC Leopards back to its form.
The coach is well known for his excellent coaching techniques and reviving of teams . AFC who are without a head coach may look into his offer and offer him the opportunity to revive the team which has a wide fan base from western people.
The club despite having bought other talented faces to boast their performance , it was seemed dwindling . The team has been losing many of their matches including their rival game against Gor Mahia which has always been a hard tackle between the two teams has was not up to the fans expectations.
The managing board of the team showed their dissatisfaction with the Argentine coach and decided to relieve him of his duties as Ingwe coach.
Although the dismal performance of AFC leopards is justified by the wrangles in the managerial board room and financial constraints some loyal players continued showing their deep passion for playing for the club , which did not tick under Zapata.
Currently the team is rejuvenating in preparation to the next season . The team is expected to bring in new talents to boast the squad and moral of the existing players.
The team is also expected to enter into talks with different coaches who will be interested with the job , in preparation of the coming season which most fans expect it is going to be a wake season for the football giants of Kenya.
So far Gor Mahia have proven to be the finest team so far in Kenya Premier League running many unbeaten matches which AFC is determined to out do them in the following KPL season.
