Contradicting statements emerge after Irungu’s parents speak

The twist and turns in Monica Kimani’s murder case has left many confused and puzzled about the events that led to her death. After Joseph Irungu’s parents spoke yesterday Kenyans have had more questions than the hope that they would have their questions answered.

Parents of Joseph Irungu, the main suspect in the Monica Kimani murder case, revealed that the police narrative of what happened in the run up to Monica’s death and after the tragedy may not be accurate after all.  His parents believe in the narrative that their son was shot by a gun man who was following them as they drove towards their home. The police narrative however is that Joseph Irungu shot himself on the shoulder on what they suspect to be a suicide attempt.

Weeks ago, the court directed that the suspect be taken to hospital immediately, after the defense team requested to have Irungu allowed to seek medical attention since he has a bullet wound on his left shoulder. His parents however claim that their son is not getting the treatment he needs and this could be a threat to his health condition.

Reports had earlier revealed that the suspect in question was held after he went to a hospital on Tuesday to be treated for a gunshot wound; his parents said that Joseph Irungu was admitted…”I was the one carrying the discharge sheet going to the pharmacy and paying the bills…if anyone disputes that, everything is computerized nowadays you can’t hide this information.” Joseph Irungu’s father said

He went ahead and stated that he had asked Irungu severally and he told him he never did it. He was not involved in the murder.

“I know that he was working in Dubai. I don’t know anything about Afghanistan and everything else being said about him. I only see it on TV. He told me he was doing security work in Dubai.” his father said

They also demanded that they should be given a chance to take samples to test for the DNA because anything could happen given that reports only come from one ‘party’.

Kenyans believe that there is more to this story and things are only getting complicated…
