Manchester City skipper believes Chelsea can win the league

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has claimed Chelsea are also title contenders.

The Cityzen’s captain has made the claims ahead of Sunday clash between City and Liverpool who have been tipped as the favourite sides to clinch the title. The Belgian also spoke of Tottenham and Arsenal as the other sides that should not be taken for granted.

“It’s too close I think to actually make any big statements and that’s what makes this game so interesting. I don’t agree with just putting City and Liverpool as title contenders. Chelsea has shown so much already this season. Arsenal, Tottenham are coming back.” Kompany said.

With City yet to taste victory at Anfield since 2003, the centre-back says that the clash will be decided by small margins.

“The margin is so small between both teams and a lot of things happen in a very short period of time. You have to make sure you can control this and be at our best on the day. This kind of games you need a lot of things to come together. You need a little bit of luck, a good performance, you need to be clinical and defend well and that goes for both teams.

“You’d think there’d be a bigger points gap by now but it’s not. I think most teams at the top are firing on all cylinders at this moment in time and this makes this league exciting.” Kompany said.

Liverpool and City are the joint league leaders but the defending champions goal difference outclasses the Reds.
